The mystery surrounding the identity of the winner of a massive £101m EuroMillions jackpot - the third-largest lottery jackpot in UK history – has been solved.

Dave Dawes, 47, a factory supervisor, and his fiancé Angela, 43, a charity volunteer, have been revealed as the winners of last Friday’s £101m EuroMillions lottery jackpot.

The couple, who reportedly live in a £70-a-week rented one-bedroom flat, had only played the lottery twice before, making their windfall a true case of ‘third time lucky’.

Mr Dawes explained to The Telegraph how the couple discovered they’d won the massive jackpot.

“We were watching TV and the EuroMillions draw show came on so we kept watching, not thinking we would win anything.

“We got our tickets out and watched in shock as, one by one, the numbers came up on the line I’d chosen.

“We couldn’t believe it! It was too late to call Camelot so I kept the ticket on me all night until the morning but we didn’t sleep a wink.”

The jackpot snowballed to the massive £101m mark after five previous draws produced no winners.

The windfall has made the winners the 703rd richest people in the UK, according to the Sunday Times Rich List 2011.

The winning couple said they intended to share their prize with their closest friends and family.

Ms Dawes said: “It’s an excessive amount of money but we intend to make our friends and family millionaires.”

They are also planning to donate money to a number of charities but have not yet decided which ones.

The couple, who have been together for four years, were planning to get married abroad next year, so their windfall will ensure they can have the wedding of their dreams.

They are also planning to buy properties in London and abroad and go on a trip to Las Vegas and a skiing holiday in Switzerland in the coming months.

Mr Dawes, an avid Chelsea fan, is also planning on getting a season ticket to watch his favourite Premier League team.

“I’m not worried about getting a box – I want to stand with the real fans and watch my team play,” he said.

“I’d also love to live near the ground and have Frank Lampard come over for a cup of tea.”

The winning numbers of the EuroMillions draw were 18, 26, 34, 38 and 42. The Lucky Star numbers were 5 and 8.
