Someone in the U.S. state of Connecticut has won this week’s massive $245 million Powerball jackpot – although they may not know it yet.
The winning ticket matched all six winning numbers — 12, 14, 34, 39, 46 and 36 — and was sold at an undisclosed location in the state’s Fairfield County.
The $245 million jackpot is the largest payout ever in the state, but the winner may not be aware of his or her good fortune because hundreds of thousands of Connecticut residents were without power after a snow storm downed power lines in the area.
More than 430,000 residents in the state were affected by the power cut.
Powerball is played in 33 states and territories in the U.S. The twice-weekly draw has not produced a jackpot winner since September 14, resulting in the huge $245 million jackpot. The jackpot will now reset to $20 million for Saturday’s draw.
In January, the lottery game will reportedly undergo changes including ticket prices rising to $2 and the jackpot doubling to $40 million.
