Aston Martin reveals Zagato V12 racer

Cars

In May, Aston Martin revealed its bespoke V12-engined Zagato racer at the Villa d’Este Concours in Italy – and later this month, it’ll be hitting the race track.

Two stunning Zagato V12 racers are set to compete in the gruelling Nürburgring 24 Hour race on June 25-26.

“The 24 hour race is the ultimate road test and a fitting introduction for the V12 Zagato,” Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin, said.

“Nürburgring is where we sign-off every new model in terms of dynamics, and there can be no better place for the new V12 Zagato to be finally tested.”

Work on the Zagato V12 began just last year.

Aston Martin’s director of design, Marek Reichman, said of the racer: “The V12 Zagato is an elegant yet brutal design which reflects the great balance between race performance and pure Aston Martin style.

“The original DB4GT Zagato was a true icon, powerful and graceful; the new design is a true representation of the spirit of DB4GT Zagato.

“The muscular organic forms define the thoroughbred nature of the car’s racing credentials.”

The V12 Zagato features a new handcrafted aluminium body, Zagato’s ‘double-bubble’ roof, oversized grille, chunky rear arches and comprehensive aerodynamic revisions.
