Formula 1 tycoon Bernie Ecclestone has hired legendary rocker Eric Clapton and pop group Black Eyed Peas to play at his daughter Petra’s £1.3 million Italian wedding.
Ecclestone, reportedly worth around £2.5 billion, hired the Black Eyed Peas to play at the wedding for £750,000, while Eric Clapton’s fee was £240,000.
Hire of the 15th century Odescalchi Castle, where Tom Cruise married Katie Holmes, will cost £310,000, including a £40,000 fireworks display at midnight.
The three-day wedding celebration comes three months after Ecclestone threw Petra, 22, and fiance James Stunt a £600,000 engagement party headlined by pop act Rihanna.
The couple are reportedly planning a month-long honeymoon.
One guest said: “Petra is Bernie’s little girl. He’ll do anything to make her happy and she wants a wedding to leave her society chums green with envy.
“After Rihanna performed at the engagement bash, it was a tough ask to trump that. But Petra had her heart set on Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas and used her connections.
“Eric rarely gives public performances but is a close friend of Bernie’s. He’ll be singing as the bride and groom take their first dance. It will be a magical evening.”
