More than 350 women in bikinis strutted their stuff at Australia’s Surfers Paradise beach on the Gold Coast on Sunday to break the Guinness World Record for the largest bikini parade.
Having a total of 357 participants, the parade beat the previous world record of 331 set last year in the Cayman Islands.
“Today, 361 girls walked through the counter, but there had to be a few disqualifications because they were not wearing bikinis,” Australian Guinness World Record adjudicator Chris Sheedy said before officially declaring a new record had been set.
The bikini-clad women began the parade at a Gold Coast shopping mall and paraded for the required distance of 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) along Surfers Paradise beach.
Local councilor Susie Douglas said it was fitting the Gold Coast held the world record, according to the Herald Sun.
“It shows off that we have beautiful beaches, we’ve got a great foreshore and got healthy young women and a sense of fun.”
