Cool Summer Cars: The New BMW 1 Series M Coupé

Cars

Just getting into the mood for summer? To sweeten the thought of your planned road trip or simply make the thought of that everyday cruise down to the beach a little more exciting, we are gathering some of the finest rides to consider for this summer.

Whether you are looking for the fiercest street legal monster available to mankind, or something a little tamer, we’ll try to cover a few fun summer cars in the weeks and months ahead.

To get us started, lets take a closer look at the new BMW 1 Series M Coupé, a compact version of the legendary M car – otherwise mostly known for its history as a racing vehicle and more recently of course also as a high performance sports car for people like you and me. So, what makes this new version so cool then?

Well, in addition to the modified headlights, taillights and new front/rear bumpers it has also had a smaller facelift on the inside (that sounded a bit weird, now didn’t it?), which doesn’t hurt its chances with guys like me. What is even better is that once you have climbed inside this powertrain you can rest your eyes on that magic “M” button. If you believe those who have pushed “M”, the increased throttle response that follows is sure to send your brains and bones into seventh heaven. What will make your heart beat faster however is the 2,979cc engine that takes the car from zero to 62mph in 4.9 seconds – which you enjoy through a six-speed manual transmission which is really the only option for this kind of car.

All in all, as far as summer cars go, this is a fun ride for those young at heart and for those who want to experience the very latest in the iconic BMW M-series bloodline.

This beauty will go on sale this month in the UK (May 2011) and if you want one it will set you back roughly £40,020 according to BMW press releases.

Now, let’s have the car have the final say – check it out in the video below.
