Couple on a mission to track down their beloved Citroen 2CV

A loving husband has agreed to help his wife track down her first love – her old Citroen 2CV.

Scottish couple Gordon and Lesley Venters last saw their old yellow soft-top car 24 years ago when they traded it in for a Renault 5 – and have apparently regretted it ever since.

According to the Daily Record, the couple said they realise the car – which they named Emily because its registration plate contained the letters MLY – may be past her heyday, but they want to “knock her into shape” anyway.

Gordon said they bought the car new in 1984 but traded it in three years later.

He said: “It was a tough decision but we needed something with a little more power because we were visiting Lesley’s mum and dad in Edinburgh so often. Emily wasn’t able to manage the hill leading into Perth without a struggle.”

All they know since trading her in is that Emily has been unlicensed since 1999 and may have been painted red.

Gordon added: “I have sent emails to websites for 2CV enthusiasts but, unfortunately, haven’t had any response.”

Have you seen Emily? Let us know and you just might help reunite a couple of car-lovers with their long lost love.
