‘Dancing Shoplifter’ Anthony DiVietro has been found and arrested after CCTV video footage of him went viral on YouTube.
DiVietro, 26, walked into a Kmart store in New Jersey and was seen on CCTV footage dancing as he checked out the latest t-shirts on offer.
He continued to bounce around while stuffing clothes down his pants, before proceeding to leave the store.
After being spotted by security, he was approached by a member of staff, but DiVietro dumped the clothes and fled the scene.
But there was no lucky escape for the Dancing Shoplifter as police posted the CCTV video of him on YouTube, which soon became a viral hit, attracting over 70,000 views.
The video became so popular that DiVietro was soon recognised and police quickly went in to make a belated arrest.
“It’s like the old days when you’d go to the post office and see the wanted flyers on the wall,” Detective Chuck Dougherty of the Gloucester Township Police told WPVI-TV.
“Now people can sit at their homes, sit on their phones and watch these videos.”
