Samsung, the world’s number 1 technology firm in terms of revenue, reported a record net profit of $4.5 billion for the quarter as customers around the world flocked to buy Galaxy S3 smartphones.

South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co said Friday its net profit surged to 5.2 trillion won ($4.5 billion) in the April-June quarter, representing a 48 per cent increase over the previous year.

The Ferrari 250 GTO, worth over £20 million,  is regarded as the “Picasso” of the motoring world, according to Metro.

A 100-year-old Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost has become the world’s most expensive Rolls-Royce ever sold at auction after fetching almost £5 million.

The Rolls-Royce, described as “one of the finest ever built”, manages 15 miles to the gallon and is capable of a “cruising” speed of 60mph, according to The Telegraph.

The first ready-made personal computer, an Apple 1, has sold for $374,500 at a Sotheby’s auction.

The computer, which came only as a naked motherboard, is reportedly one of only six working examples of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak’s first Apple hardware, according to The Telegraph.

Even a £2.1 million Bugatti Veyron or a $2.9 million Lamborghini seems like a relatively cheap buy compared to the $35 million price tag of a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO sold last month.

The $35 million car, designed for race car driver Stirling Moss, exchanged hands in a private sale and has become the world’s most expensive car ever sold.

German police chiefs made a bit of a miscalculation when they invested $33 million on a new fleet of pursuit vehicles – only to find their police officers couldn’t fit into them.

Police officers found the seats in the Opel Insignia Sports Tourers were too narrow for them when wearing belts carrying their guns, batons and other equipment, according to The Local.
