Going back to the drawing board to create a car faster than their 407kph (253mph) GT9 (as if that wasn’t fast enough!), the engineers at German Porsche tuning company 9ff are working on a more powerful version of the GT9 – the GT9R.

This new version of the GT9 sports a new rear wing, an updated front bumper and splitter, new wheel well extractors, plus a side mounted exhaust system. It is expected to topple the SSC Ultimate Aero TT’s top speed of 411kph (255mph), which would make it the title holder of the world’s fastest car.

Honda is bringing a three-wheel, one-person battery-electric concept to the Geneva Motor Show – the 3R-C.

The 3R-C is Honda’s vision of what a green urban commuter car could look like. It is designed for close-quarters manoeuvring, so it’s not big. The battery-electric drivetrain is mounted low in the chassis, providing for the car’s low centre of gravity and improved stability.

The innovative concept car also has a clear canopy that covers the driver seat when not in use, and acts as a windshield when the 3R-C is in motion. The driver seat sits low in the vehicle, which Honda says offers maximum driver protection. There’s also a small storage area for cargo.

The Honda 3R-C will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be held from March 4 to 14.

Porsche performance tuners 9ff have come out of the woodwork to reveal their new rear-engined, rear-drive 745kW Porsche.

The massive horsepower boost has been achieved by bolting a pair of fat turbos to the GT3’s 3.8-litre flat-six-cylinder engine, which develops a mere 324kW in its usual production format.

9ff says its GTurbo will crack 100km per hour in 2.9 seconds and top out at 391km per hour – now that’s one hell of a speed machine!
