The Olympic medals presented at the London 2012 Olympics are not only valuable in terms of athlete glory, they also happen to be the most expensive Olympic medals in history.
The eight tonnes of gold, silver and copper sourced from mines in Mongolia and Utah which are now under security watch at the Tower of London represent the largest-ever haul used to make Olympic medals, according to AFP.

The first issues of both X-Men and Avengers sold for world record prices at an auction of high-grade Silver Age comics organised by Heritage Auctions on July 26.
The 1963 copy of X-Men no. 1 sold for $492,937.50, while the copy of Avengers no. 1 sold for $274,850, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has officially become the world’s most expensive player in football history after the Sweden international completed his £31 million transfer from AC Milan to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Ibrahimovic is the French Ligue 1 side’s third major signing for summer and has sealed the deal by undergoing a medical at a Paris hospital yesterday, according to the Daily Mail.

Digg, which was once the “internet darling” at the forefront of social news sharing and valued at up to a staggering $175 million, was sold to New York technology development company Betaworks for $500,000 in cash plus equity.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic it set to become the world’s most expensive player in football history after French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)’s £51 million joint bid for the AC Milan striker and Brazil defender Thialgo Silva.
According to Daily Mail, the 27-year-old Brazilian is likely to decline the transfer offer, but if the £32 million part of the bid belonging to Ibrahimovic goes ahead, it would mean the 30-year-old Swede would become the world’s most expensive footballer, at a total cost of almost £150 million in transfer fees.

A poster for the classic German science-fiction film Metropolis, which holds the record for world’s most expensive film poster, is to be sold at auction again after its owner filed for bankruptcy recently.
The poster was painted by German artist Heinz Schulz-Neudamm to promote the release of Fritz Lang’s 1927 film about a futuristic urban dystopia, and is one of only four known remaining copies.
