The site Cracked.com recently wrote about 12 movie moments that were achieved through the tyranny of dictators – uh, DIRECTORS – who would do nearly anything to fulfill their moviemaking vision.
While some of it is surely exaggerated (or muted) there is something both romantic and frightening at the same time. But if you look closely, you’ll see that the majority happened over 30 years ago (aside from David O. Russel’s famous Huckabee’s tantrum). We started to wonder – why did it end? And these are the answers we came up with.

Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor’s renowned collection of jewellery, art, clothing and memorabilia will be sold at a series of auctions, auction house Christie’s announced on Saturday.
“Christie’s will be selling the historic collection of Elizabeth Taylor,” Christie’s said in a statement.

The iconic eyepatch worn by John Wayne in his 1969 film True Grit is to be sold at auction.
Other personal items of Wayne’s will also be sold at the auction, including the US actor’s Golden Globe which he won for playing Marshal Rooster Cogburn in the movie, as well as his cowboy boots, hats, driving licence, passport and various movie scripts with Wayne’s handwriting.

It’s probably one of the last places on earth you’d expect to find a Michael Jackson statue, but Craven Cottage, home ground of Fulham FC, is now home to a seven-foot tribute to the late singer.
The controversial statue of Jackson, commissioned by Fulham FC owner Mohamed Al Fayed, was unveiled at Craven Cottage in west London earlier this week.

Taylor Swift received the top honour at the 46th Academy of Country Music Awards held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday night, winning the entertainer of the year award.
The 21-year-old songstress beat the likes of Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and even the night’s overall winner, Miranda Lambert, to take home the coveted award.
