An incredible fluke occurred during Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw in the US – four of the six jackpot-winning numbers matched four of the six mysterious numbers from the hit TV show, Lost.
Mega Millions players who picked the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 – the six numbers which seem to crop up everywhere and which character Hugo “Hurley” Reyes used to win a lottery jackpot in Lost – each won $150 for matching four of the six winning numbers, 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 and 42, with 42 being the Mega Ball number.
Jorge Garcia, who played the unlucky lotto winner “Hurley” in the series, posted a blog addressed to the 9,000-plus Mega Millions winners who cashed in using the mysterious numbers from the show.
In his blog titled: “When Will People Learn?”, Garcia wrote: “The numbers are bad”.
He continues his post by writing: “Enjoy your” and inserting an image of a $100 bill and a $50 bill with the word “cursed” stamped over them.
Early in the television series Lost, viewers were introduced to the series of six numbers which mysteriously began turning up everywhere. Later in the series, viewers eventually learnt that they were lottery numbers, the ones that character Hugo “Hurley” Reyes used to win millions, only to suffer a series of misfortunes.
