The most amazing thing I have ever seen was walking through the cemetery at Gettysburg, It was early evening and as we walked past all the headstones, fire flies began rising from the grass all around us, It was like souls rising from the ground.

Maddie, her name was Jenny Wade, and she was the only civilian killed during the battle of Gettysburg, while she was baking bread in the kitchen for the Union soldiers. And you are right, her fiance’ was killed not long before she was killed…. she didnt even know about his death. You did a marvelous job posting your comment, especially if you’re only 11 yrs. old. I totally agree with you about the sadness which blanketed the town of Gettysburg, thats probably why it is so haunted. Every home, building, business, which was standing was used as a hospital, and every living soul must have been traumatized by the event. So many (over 50,000 casualties in the 3 day battle), …. just so sad that it has left a living imprint on this town.

Gettysburg , Pa. is definitely the cream of the crop for paranormal activity in the USA.
Our family has had many personal experiences over the years when we visit, and as other posted comments have said…. You are definitely aware of the presence of ghosts. We’ve heard the cannons go off, when there are absolutely no re-enactments taking place, seen apparitions, and caught unexplainable images of people in photo’s who were not present when the photo’s are taken.(That is if/when your camera will actually work, because there are always some strange “technical” problems.) If you’re a curious skeptic, a few visits to Gettysburg will make you a believer in the afterlife. It seems that this very special place beckons you to return,between the tragic history of the battle and the charming town which is haunted,
it leaves you a bit mystified and wanting to return.
