Feast your eyes on this! A New York steakhouse is offering American football fans the world’s most expensive buffet in honour of Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Forget the soggy old cocktail sausages with ketchup this Super Bowl Sunday! If you’ve got $25,000 to spare, Manhattan’s Old Homestead Steakhouse is offering a sumptuous buffet which includes Kobe beef burgers and hot dogs, sirloin steak covered in shavings of black truffles on toasted baguettes, and horseradish-encrusted chicken wings topped with Beluga caviar.
But that’s not all. For the 25-grand price tag, you’ll also get the Old Homestead’s executive chef and his entire kitchen staff at your home to cook the grand buffet for you and 25 of your friends, as well as waiters to ferry the dishes back and forth, while you’re all busy enjoying watching the big game on TV.
“If you’ve got $25,000, this is the mother of all Super Bowl parties,” Old Homestead Steakhouse owner Marc Sherry said.
“You supply the big-screen television, we’ll do the rest.”
If you enjoy some surf along with the turf in your meal, the buffet also includes Maine lobster and in-season Miami stone crabs.
And if all that isn’t enough to have you and your friends loosening up your belt buckles, you can always wind down your meat feast with some tortillas covered in smoked salmon and crème fraîche and filet mignon kebabs – all washed down, of course, with the finest French Champagne.
“By the time the game is over, it won’t matter who won or lost. There will be a food-gasmic dance on your taste buds occurring,” Sherry added.
“If you’re satisfied with shrivelled up cocktail sticks, soupy chilli-con-carne and soggy wings, then save your money for something else – like a new car, or a home theatre, a semester of your kid’s college tuition, or a trip to Hawaii.
“Our Super Bowl spread isn’t for you. It’s too sophisticated for your palate.”
