British actor Orlando Bloom and Australian Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr have announced their engagement.
Kerr, 27, who rose to international fame as a Victoria’s Secret lingerie model, and Bloom, 33, star of the Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings films, began dating in 2007 and have frequently denied engagement rumours.
When the couple were recently together in Morocco, Bloom told reporters he and Kerr were “just enjoying our time together now” when asked if they were getting married anytime soon.
“He’s a sweetheart and that’s all I’m gonna say,” Kerr, who has talked about settling down and starting a family in the future, told People magazine back in 2008.
“My ideal situation would be to live on a farm in a solar-powered house with a hammock and a vegetable patch,” she told Page Six Magazine in 2008. “When this is all over, that’s where I’ll be. I’ve always wanted kids, so someday, eventually, yes, it will happen.”
The pair were believed to have broken up briefly in 2008, but reconciled shortly after when Bloom flew to Sydney to meet Kerr’s parents.
Last month, the pair fuelled engagement rumours after they were seen visiting a series of jewellery shops in Paris, France, spending hours inside before emerging hand-in-hand and grinning.
In May this year, Kerr was ranked ninth on the Forbes’ Top 10 Earning Models list after earning an estimated $4 million in the past 12 months. She is also now pursuing a career in acting.
