Emmy Award-winning actor Alex Baldwin was rushed to a Manhattan hospital Wednesday night after his daughter called 911 saying he was “unresponsive.”
The call was treated as a “possible alcohol or drug overdose”.
Paramedics rushed the 30 Rock star from his Central Park West apartment to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he remained for more than an hour before he was released.
A law enforcement official told the Associated Press that Baldwin and his 14-year-old daughter Ireland had argued, and that she had told a 911 operator her father threatened to take pills.
“This was a misunderstanding on one person’s part,” the star’s spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, said in a statement.
“Alec was quickly released from the hospital, he’s completely fine and will be at work today.”
Ireland and her father have had a rocky relationship, but were said to have reconciled after a voicemail he left calling her a “rude, thoughtless little pig” was made public in 2007.
Baldwin left the message when Ireland did not answer her phone during a court-appointed pre-arranged phone call.
In the voicemail, Baldwin threatened to “straighten your little ass out” and declared “you have humiliated me for the last time”.
Baldwin also described his ex-wife Kim Basinger as “a thoughtless pain in the ass.”
The star later blamed his bitter custody battle with Basinger over Ireland for the stress he felt when he left the voicemail message.
Baldwin is scheduled to co-host the Academy Awards with Steve Martin on March 7.View Comments
