A 100-year-old Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost has become the world’s most expensive Rolls-Royce ever sold at auction after fetching almost £5 million.

The Rolls-Royce, described as “one of the finest ever built”, manages 15 miles to the gallon and is capable of a “cruising” speed of 60mph, according to The Telegraph.

Porsche only revealed their new 911 Cabriolet at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show earlier this week, but the carmaker has already unveiled another convertible: the new 2012 Porsche Boxster.

Porsche has described the 2012 Porsche Boxster as faster, lighter, cleaner, more economical, and better looking than its predecessor, and said it will be officially revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March, before going on sale in the UK on 28 April 2012.

Ferrari’s chief designer Nikolas Tombazis has said a “much more aggressive approach” has been taken in the design of the 2012 Ferrari, in the hope of starting the racing season on a strong note.

“I hope the results will speak for themselves when we launch the car and more importantly, as we tackle the first few races on the calendar,” Tombazis said on the official Ferrari website.

Jaguar has announced plans to build a limited run of its C-X75 supercar in conjunction with the Williams F1 team.

The Jaguar C-X75 concept car, launched at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, will go into production in 2013 and will cost in excess of £700,000.
