The historical Beau Sancy diamond was bought by an anonymous bidder for $9.7 million at a Sotheby’s auction in Geneva on Tuesday.
The Beau Sancy is a 34.98 carat diamond which was passed among the royal families in France, England, Prussia and the Netherlands. It was sold by the Royal House of Prussia, the line of descendants that once ruled Prussia, according to Associated Press.

The largest round fancy intense pink diamond ever sold at auction is due to be auctioned next month, with an expected selling price of up to USD10 million.
According to auction organisers Christie’s, the 12.04-carat pink diamond, called the “Martian Pink”, is the largest ever pink diamond to appear at auction, the Daily Mail reported.
