This app is mandatory if you’ve decided to finally take that impromptu trip around the world. Wherever you find yourself, HotelPal will quickly direct you to the best available hotels (from a database of over 100,000!), provide ratings as well as availability and prices. You can even book your hotel through the app, so you can take care of it sometime between the moment you leave the airport and arrive in the center of town. Very cool.

If you’re traveling within the US or UK and are looking for some beach time, this app is a must-have. Few things are more fun than getting some friends and family together, cracking open some cold drinks and grilling up some delicious food. And Weber – one of the foremost manufacturers of high-quality grills – has provided an app to aid any outdoor cooking enthusiast. In fact, even if you don’t have an outdoor grill this is an excellent app to have, because it is just plain fun to read and fantasize about.

Pandora (US) or Spotify (Europe)
Sure, you may have a lot of music already, but there’s still a world of stuff you’ve never heard. And these Internet streaming radio apps can deliver the songs you love and may have forgotten or introduce you to new classics that you will add to your permanent library. Spotify (for those of you lucky ones) will allow you to download and sync files so that you can listen offline. And best of all, these apps are free.

This one may be the single most practical app we could recommend this summer. The kind of surprises that a strange bathroom might hold for you can seriously make you want to run into the bushes. There’s even a handy map that will center on your location no matter where you are and how sudden your urge 2P has descended on you.
