Unluckiest woman in Britain

Unluckiest woman in Britain dumped £17 million lottery winner

Gaming Success Stories

A woman who dumped self-confessed ‘Mr Boring’ trucker Matthew Breach for being dull, only to see him later scoop a £17.8 million Lotto fortune, has been branded the unluckiest woman in Britain.

Kerry Graves, 31, and Breach, 37, were childhood sweethearts. They were a couple for 14 years, until Graves walked out on him, telling pals she wanted “lots of sex”.

Breach went on to win £17.8 million on the UK National Lottery last month and said he is planning to travel the world and buy a fast car with his windfall.

Meanwhile, Graves is out of work and lives in a dingy bedsit with her new partner Travis Mains-Marten and their baby Blake.

A friend said: “Kerry’s got to be the unluckiest woman in the country. She was with Matthew through all the hard times and that inevitably caused strains – but after she walked out on him he struck it rich.”

Graves texted her ex after finding out about his win, to offer her congratulations.

Mr Breach explained: “She texted me and said it couldn’t happen to a nicer person and that I could do with some luck.

“We still get on. We still talk. We just grew apart. She’s probably kicking herself but I don’t know.”

Thanks to his big win, Breach will now swap his £60,000 one-bedroom council flat for a home better suited to a wealthy bachelor.

He has also quit his £20,000-a-year job driving for a builders’ merchant.

As for finding love, his mother Sandra, 67, said: “It’s a shame he doesn’t have anyone to share his win with. But I’ve told him, ‘If you get a woman now, you’ll have to get a pre-nup’.”
