Manchester United and England football star Wayne Rooney announced on Twitter on Saturday that he had a hair transplant at a clinic in London.
“Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25 why not,” he said on Twitter shortly before England’s game against Switzerland at Wembley on Saturday.
He added he was “delighted” with the result of the procedure.
He also asked for tips on the best hair gels as his scalp was “still a bit bruised and swollen”.
His wife, Coleen, tweeted: “Hiya!! Yes waynes had his hair done! His own decision not me asking him, like alot are saying!! Pleased for him and it will look great.”
The football star, who is paid up to £200,000 a week, was seen leaving the Queen Anne Street Medical Centre in London last Thursday.
Up until he revealed the news on Twitter, he had declined to comment on reports that he underwent two hair transplant treatment sessions.
On Saturday, Rooney’s Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand joked on Twitter: “Just don’t go down the wearing a alice band route!! You’ll be doing head&shoulders adverts soon! Hope its gone ok Good luck lad.”
