Fans around the world are paying tribute to King of Pop Michael Jackson today on the first anniversary of his death at the age of 50.
The star’s three children are expected to mark the anniversary, along with their grandmother and guardian Katherine, at the former family home in Indiana, where tributes will be paid.
A monument has also been dedicated to the star at London’s Lyric Theatre.
In New York, the Apollo Theatre – where Jackson and his brothers won a talent contest and were subsequently signed to Motown Records – there will be a commemoration of his life.
The Reverend Al Sharpton, a Jackson family associate, said he plans a moment of silence around the time Jackson died.
Barricades have been set up at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California, for the huge throng of fans and some of his relatives expected to arrive.
Wreaths of flowers and dozens of bouquets, drawings and photos of Jackson have been placed outside his mausoleum.
Michael’s brother Randy said he would also be at the cemetery to pay his respects.
