Yesterday, we brought you the world’s largest floating Christmas tree. Now, here’s what’s been dubbed as the world’s most expensive Christmas tree.
A luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi decided to make Christmas just a bit more extravagant this year by unveiling a jewel-encrusted Christmas tree worth over a whopping $11 million.
The 13-metre tree now on display at the Emirates Palace Hotel is adorned with not only traditional ornaments and lights, but also necklaces, earrings and other jewellery.
In total, it holds 181 diamonds, pearls, emeralds, sapphires and other precious stones, according to Khalifa Khouri, owner of Style Gallery, which provided the jewellery.
The hotel’s general manager, Hans Olbertz, said: “The tree itself is about 10,000 dollars. The jewellery has a value of over 11 million dollars — I think 11.4, 11.5.”
The hotel, which is billed as seven-star, is no stranger to extravagance and excesses – earlier this year, it introduced a package for a seven-day stay priced at $1 million.
Buyers of the package were treated to a private butler and a chauffeur-driven Maybach luxury car during their stay, as well as a private jet for trips to other countries in the region.
Also earlier this year, the hotel unveiled a gold vending machine, becoming the first place outside Germany to install Gold to Go, the world’s first gold vending machine.
