A British jewellery designer has created the world’s most expensive shoes, made from solid gold and encrusted with diamonds, with a price tag of £140,000.
The stilettos, which went on sale five months ago, were created by British jewellery designer Christopher Michael Shellis.
“The aim of this was to create a unique form of jewellery which you can wear on your feet,” Mr Shellis said.
Created by a team of goldsmiths in temperatures of more than 1000ºC, each pair of shoes is made from solid gold and over 2,200 diamonds, totalling 30 carats.
“It’s a bit like if you found these on an archaeological dig in thousands of years time they would be regarded as a treasure – a treasure of the feet,” Shellis added.
The shoes are guaranteed for 1,000 years.
Fashionistas who want to take a closer look at the world’s most expensive shoes can do so at the Artbox in the Mailbox exhibition in Birmingham, which opened on April 16.
