The world’s most expensive Starbucks drink costs US$24 and has an eye-popping 1400mg of caffeine.
TNW reported a guy by the name of Logan Warren had earned his free cup from his Starbucks Rewards card and decided to make the most out of it – by ordering the most expensive cup of caffeine-fuelled liquid he possibly could.
So what did he order? A 31-ounce Java Chip Frappuccino, with lots of naughty extras.
According to Warren, the beverage contained:
- 16 shots of espresso
- 1 shot of soy milk
- Caramel syrup
- Banana puree
- Strawberry puree
- Vanilla beans
- Matcha powder
- Protein powder
- Caramel drizzle
The total cost of the drink, with all the trimmings, came up to $23.60 and contained as much as 1,400mg of caffeine.
Typically, a 160lb (73kg) person would require 13,824mg of caffeine to reach a fatal dose. Though Wikipedia reports that some people have died with complications from a mere 2,000mg.
So it’s probably better to veer on the safe side and stick to a cappuccino.
