To get the British in the mood for summer – after experiencing the UK’s wettest June on record – a bar in Manchester is serving up the world’s most expensive bowl of strawberries and cream for £450.
The special edition of one of the UK’s most popular summer desserts is being served at the upmarket Circle 360 champagne bar in The Trafford Centre to celebrate the Wimbledon Championships 2012, according to Yahoo Lifestyle.
The usually humble dessert is given a luxury makeover, served in a Jasper Conran crystal bowl worth £160 alone, which buyers can keep.
Among the ingredients used in making the expensive dessert include a vintage champagne mousse made from a bottle of Pommery Cuvee Louise 1999, at a cost of £750 per bottle.
Also, a scoop of mandarin ice cream, a brandy snap basket and, naturally, a few handfuls of hand-picked, ripe local strawberries.
“Strawberries and cream are the Wimbledon fans favourite sweet, so we thought it would be a great idea to introduce this exclusively to our menu,” said Norris Panton, the owner of Circle 360.
“It might be the world’s most expensive strawberries and cream, but it is definitely worth the money. It’s delicious!”
