Renowned for creating some of the world’s most luxurious and expensive gadgets, Stuart Hughes has diverted his attention from designing exclusive iPod and iPhone wallets to something on more of a grander scale – the world’s most expensive television.
Swiss luxury television maker PrestigeHD asked Hughes to design a spectacular piece for the company. So the world’s leading pioneer in customisations of high-end gadgets took a 55-inch PrestigeHD television and did what he does best.
Hughes covered the television in 28 kilograms of 18-carat rose gold and 72 diamonds. He also had alligator skin hand-sewn into the bezel.
The end result is the limited edition PrestigeHD Supreme Rose Edition, which was introduced just this year – priced at a whopping £1.5 million.
PrestigeHD CEO Simon M. Troxler says the company is close to closing its first contract for the Supreme Rose Edition and “we are very confident that the limited edition of only three TVs will be sold out soon.”
